Design Brief

Four18 Architecturewere engaged by ECMS to prepare designs and documentation for a 3 storey childcare fitout in the new CLT building as part of the Melbourne University Carlton Connect Initiative being developed by Lend Lease. The design references the science precinct in which the service is located through finishes and innovative interactive initiatives that promote engagement and interaction with the young children being educated within the service. The design progressed to the end of design development at which time the project did not proceed due to lease negotiations stalling.

This project required interaction with various stakeholders, understanding of a new construction methodology (cross laminated timber), interface with the developer and base building architect whilst keeping ECMS’s requirements foremost in our design outcomes.
